After twice postponing the ceremony to swear in their leader Raila Odinga, the National Super Alliance now intends to inaugurate its president at the end of the month.
NASA insists that their oath-taking plans will proceed unless the Jubilee administration agrees to dialogue.
Raila Odinga had also said he was willing to die, if at all that is what it took for constitutional and electoral reforms to be achieved.
“If death is what will deliver us from vote rigging again, we are ready to be sworn in and die,” he had said.
His co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka also said he was ready for their swearing in if Jubilee will not heed their dialogue calls.
“If they do not want dialogue on ‘rigging of the elections’, Kalonzo and Raila will be sworn in,” threatened Musyoka a week ago at the late Francis Nyenze’s home.
NASA CEO Norman Maganya confirms that the plan to swear in the two is on course, and they are ready to pay the ultimate price to restore the power of the vote.
“The train has left the station. We are ready to pay the ultimate price to ensure the power of the vote is restored in this country,” wrote Magaya in a statement.
The David Ndii-led team will meet today to chart the way forward.
Odinga is said to be planning for tours of the Western region this weekend, where people’s assembly meetings will be held.
The coalition has had its fair share of tough times, with the recent being members of the NASA affiliate parties revolting from within, saying they got a raw deal in-house nominee exercises.
The NASA leaders are also said to be planning on a tour of the Ukambani region, as they push to launch the People’s assembly forum in Machakos.
The leaders then will head to the Northeastern region, touring Garissa before heading to Mombasa for a rally in the run-up to the swearing in.
Narok, Migori, and Kisii will also be launching the People’s assemblies, with Gusii Stadium expected to host the last rally before the swearing in.
The coalition will then stage a mega rally on January 30 at the Uhuru Park, where the inauguration of the people’s assembly will be done.
