The National Super Alliance (NASA) on Saturday launched its presidential campaign at Kakamega’s Bukhungu Stadium, promising Kenyans of delivering them from what they termed as bad leadership.

The alliance leaders promised to hand the ruling Jubilee administration a humiliating defeat at the August ballot polls, saying they have not delivered on their promises.

In the well-attended event at the stadium, Nasa leaders tore into the Jubilee administration, accusing them of abetting corruption and looting public coffers.

NASA presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga urged his supporters to turn up in large numbers and secure the opposition vote, promising to institute sweeping reforms and ease the burden on the cost of living if elected into office.

Bearing the biblical name Joshua, Odinga promised to ensure transparency and accountability in his administration.

The event, which was Nasa’s first official campaign rally, was also used to unveil the Western Region Investment Conference which outlines several programmes geared towards empowering the four counties of Kakamega, Bungoma, Vihiga and Busia as well as Trans Nzoia economically.

Key opposition figures including former lands cabinet secretary Charity Ngilu graced the rally.

The rally kicked off the first phase of the opposition alliance’s official campaigns, which will be followed by rallies in Kapsabet on Sunday and Machakos on Monday.

The Nasa brigade will take a break on Tuesday and Wednesday before heading to Coast region on Thursday.

On that day, the Nasa brigade will split into two groups, one covering Lamu and Tana River counties and the other covering Mombasa and Kilifi.
