Former Garissa County Governor Nathif Jama has filed a petition challenging the election of Ali Korane in the August 8 polls.
Jama filed the case at the Garissa High court on Tuesday.
IEBC declared Korane of Jubilee party as the duly elected governor after he garnered 59,871 votes against Jama of Wiper party who got 55,156 votes.
Jama, addressing the press outside the Garissa Law courts, said the election was marred with massive irregularities after IEBC for cooked and announced fake results in favor of the new governor.
Jama said his lawyer Omwanza Ombati will table evidence before the court to overturn Korane's false victory.
‘We are done with filing the case and the clock has started ticking. Soon we will win back our seat. We are confident we will win this case and the subsequent by-election,” Jama said.
“I want to urge Garissa residents to be patient. Your patience will finally pay off. We won the elections but what took place later was a total fraud and amounted to overturning the will of the people in the most dubious manner,” he added.
