The Nation Media Group has denied reports from a lealflet alleged to be of Daily Nation newspaper, purporting that Funyula MP Paul Otuoma who is eying the Busia gubernatorial seat on an ODM ticket has defected to Jubilee party.
The newspaper print circulated in Busia county, Thursday, as the ODM primaries kicked off.
In a statement released,Thursday, NMG condemned the reports and further reported to the relevant authorities to take action.
“It has come to our attention that there are leaflets in Busia county disguised as the front page of the Daily Nation Newspaper containing political messaging on the upcoming elections. We dissociate ourselves from such leaflets and condemn in the strongest terms possible the use of any of our brands for political purposes,” read part of the statement.
“Nation Media Group is an apolitical independent media house that is not affiliated to any political party or candidate as clearly set out in our editorial policy. We have taken immediate action to report this violation with the relevant authorities for appropriate action,” added the statement.
