The National Assembly unanimously approved senior deputy Clerk, Michael Rotich Sialai, as the new clerk of the National Assembly.
He succeeds Justin Bundi who retires in March 22, 2017 after attaining the mandatory retirement age of 60-years.
Presided by Speaker Justin Muturi, Majority Whip Katoo Ole Metito tabled Sialai's name as nominee for clerk of the House during Wednesday's morning session which began at 9:30am.
The motion was seconded by Majority Leader Aden Duale.
Sialai was approved by the Parliamentary Service Commission to take over as the Clerk of the National Assembly.
The clerk is the accounting officer of the National Assembly and serves for five years.
