In a rare show of accountability from the government side, the National Disaster Management Unit has released a full report on the rescue operation that took place in Huruma.
The report, that is now a public document, gives details of the deceased people and those who were injured in the unfortunate incident.
According to Pius Mwachi, who was the incident commandant, the report by the inter-agency team that worked day and night in Huruma is meant to avert an occurrence of such an incident in the future.
To this end, the report proposes key recommendations among them a plea to the Nairobi County government to resettle all the victims of the tragedy. In the recommendation is a plea to the members of the public to sound the alarm over the existence of any unsafe building in their vicinity.
