Kisii county former councilors have challenged the national government to compensate them so that they can get their pensions.
Speaking to the media on Monday during the meeting held in Kisii county offices, they appealed to the county government officials led by the Governor James Ongwae, Senator Chris Obure and Women Rep Mary Otara who were presented to help them get their pensions.
The councilors led by Chairman David Ong’ori said that they need to be compensated for the good work they had done during their time in office.
“We are in support of the devolution but we wish that the government will compensate us since we did a crucial role during our time,” said Ong’ori.
Senator Obure said that he will ask the National assembly members to help the former councilors get their rightful compensation.
“When it comes to matters of compensation the National assembly is mandated to talk about money hence we will ask them to help you so that you can be compensated and have your pensions,” said Obure.
Governor Ongwae also said that the former councilors deserve their compensation since they helped most of the counties reach where they are today.
The former councilors also supported the bid of Cord supports who want IEBC commissioners to go home.
