Senate Speaker Ekwe Ethuro has urged the national government to fully support devolution by disbursing funds on time.
This, he said, will enable them run their operations smoothly.
Speaking after attending the Noreb Investment Conference, Ethuro said the national government has crippled county governments through late disbursement of funds.
"County governments have not received their money. How do they expect county governments to operate without funds," he said.
He said that it is time the national government showed some seriousness in supporting devolution by releasing funds to the county governments on time.
"I get information from senators and governors that their counties are almost bankrupt. This shows the scheme by the national government to kill devolution," he said.
Ethuro urged the national government to fast-track disbursing money to the county governments for them to operate smoothly.
