Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama has distanced himself and his government from critics who are blaming him for poor state of most roads in the county.
Speaking to this writer, Nyagarama asked his critics to tell the residents the truth ‘than meddling lies' on matters infrastructure.
He sought to clarify on the classification of most of major roads in Nyamira indicating that they were maintained by bodies governed by the national government and not his county government.
He, however, said that he has been offering a helping hand whenever need arise during this rain season which has seen most of the roads impassable.
Nyagarama said that since his county majorly depends on agriculture, he would not sit and watch the residents count loses through bad road and said that his government has been rehabilitating and building new roads through the assistance of members of county assembly who identify emergency cases and which need attention of the county government.
“I want to tell my opponents to tell their supporters the truth about these roads, that almost 90 per cent of them are maintained by the national government, the county is left with a small fraction of them and but I can’t sit and watch their state deteriorate and my government has always helped whenever need arises,” said Nyagarama.
He said his government is working to fulfilling the pledges he made during the campaigns and called on all like-minded individuals and parties to come and work for the better of the county residents.
