Governor Jack Ranguma has announced plans by the national government to employ health staff to run the Beyond Zero Campaign vans.
Ranguma said lack of health staff had hampered the movement of the van to provide health services to the people.
He said the county had been relying on health staff from the public hospitals. This, he said, had occasioned a shortage of health staff in hospitals.
He noted that the vans in some counties are grounded due to lack of personnel and hailed the government plans to recruit independent staff to run the mobile clinic.
“Fortunately here in Kisumu it was going out twice in a month, in other counties they are grounded just because of lack of personnel,” he said.
Speaking to the press in Kisumu on Tuesday after opening the County Assembly session after a long recess, the governor said his government has equipped health facilities with proper medical equipment.
He said the Beyond Zero Campaign mobile clinic will now be used to carry out screening of cancer and other diseases.
Ranguma said once enough staff is employed then, the van will visit each sub county.
