The National Government through its spokesperson Eric Kiraithe has said that they are making a few changes in the security systems manning Nairobi’s City Centre in order to curb the increased daylight robbery by organised gangs.
Speaking in a breakfast show interview with a local TV station, Kiraithe said that the government is also working hand in hand with the county government and that all the security agencies are working together to stop the vice.
“Plans are ongoing, we have already initiated some changes and we are working together to make sure that this situation is stopped. The Inspector General is aware and I want to assure all the city residents that we will deal with lawlessness,” Kiraithe said.
However, he said that gangsters have been harassing people because they have been ‘silent’ and said that this is the first time the public has spoken prompting the government to take action immediately.
“To be honest this is the first time this issue has been highlighted and the public has said that the police have swiftly moved in and formulated plans on how to stop these criminals,” he added.
“The County Government has also created a special team that is dealing with these gangs together with the police so that this situation is corrected.”
