A senior National Lands Commission official in Nakuru was on Tuesday arraigned before a Nakuru court over bribery charges.
Frank Kimbelekenya was charged that on May 15 at Midlands Hotel in Nakuru, as secretary to the County Land Management Board he corruptly solicited for a benefit of Sh1.6 Million from Konene Ole Nkuruma so as to include names of 8 persons into a land register in respect to Oljorai settlement scheme.
Charged before Chief Magistrate David Kemei, the secretary denied the charges and was released on a bond of Shs500 000 or an alternative cash bail of Sh100 000.
Kimbelekenya was arrested by the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) following a barrage of fraud and corruption related complaints from the members of the public leveled against him.
This is expected to turn into a landmark case in the county that has been rocked with bloodshed and hostilities due to land disputes in recent months.
The case was adjourned till July 12, 2016.
