The fifth and final leg of the SportPesa National Boxing League concluded on Saturday at Uwanja wa Mbuzi in Kongowea, Mombasa County.
The three-day boxing league comprising of 16 teams saw National Police top the standings with 123 points, Kenya Defense Forces was 2nd with 122 points, Kenya Prisons was 3rd with 23 points and Coast Combined was 4th with 14 points.
According to Kenya Boxing Association President John Kameta, the leg was the most successful compared to the previous ones.
After the conclusion of the league, top three boxers in each weight category will fight it out in the national boxing championship in December as part of the team selection that will represent Kenya in the 2018 Common Wealth Games in Australia.
Governor Ali Joho said Mombasa County government will continue hosting such tournaments to nurture talents of the youthful generations.
