Deputy president William Ruto has taken a swipe at the opposition for getting political on matters national security.Speaking Wednesday in an interview with Citizen radio on Wednesday, the DP was categorical that no one in the country should go about criticizing security agencies in the country and linking them to unfounded allegations."The job of national secutity in this country is not debatable.Every Kenyan must support our security forces because at the end of the day all of us must be protected together with our properties. There is no point of linking the military and the police to unfounded claims," he said. The former cabinet minister also added that the army and the military have a constitutional duty to protect lives noting that the recent acquisition of modern weaponry by the police was geared towards helping them achieve that duty. The opposition coalition Nasa has continously claimed that the Jubilee government is planning to use the military and the police force to rig elections.
This is despite assurances by Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnett and Intetior CS Fred Matiangi that the police will remain apolitical throughout the electioneering period.
