Acknowledging the Saturday morning cut, Kenya Power said that the outage was occasioned by a technical hitch which affected the country’s main supply line.

“…a technical hitch led to the tripping of our main supply line- Olkaria Nairobi 220KV leading to a power outage in most parts of the country,” said a statement by KPLC.

The exact cause of the outage has not been established and the power company has said it is not known when the issue will be resolved fully.

“There is no time frame. Our team is yet to establish the cause of the outage but we assure you it will be rectified,” said part of the company’s communique on Twitter.

However, the outage has already been fixed in a number of regions including Western, Central, Nyanza and North Rift.

The untimely outage is expected to affect businesses, with Nairobi suffering the most adversities.

Already the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport has had delayed departures to various parts of the country and world and a host of other businesses are still registering more loses.
