Machakos county governor Dr Alfred Mutua has been asked to stop claiming credit for natural springs.

This was said by a Tala based businessman Dr Charles Kilonzo who noted that some of the springs that Mutua claims to be part of his water projects are actually natural.

Dr Kilonzo gave an example of Kyemule springs and Kwa Kiminza springs which are signposted as governor Mutua's projects yet they are natural springs.

"Those springs have been there for ages and are God-given, governor Mutua should stop playing foul and instead drill the boreholes he promised Machakos county residents," said Dr Kilonzo.

Kilonzo spoke this as he distributed water to residents of Kyaume and Sengani villages in Matungulu sub-county who have been walking four kilometres to find water.

Despite the governor thumping his chest for having provided water to Machakos residents, many of them are still facing water shortage and forced to walk long distances to acquire this commodity.

Our efforts to talk with the minister for water in Machakos county Dr Kioko Luka on Saturday evening bore no fruits as our calls went unanswered.
