President Uhuru Kenyatta has been defended over his move to publicly clash with Turkana governor Josephat Nanok about a week ago.
Presidential candidate Nazlin Umar argued that the opposition has for long been taking the president for a ride and insulting him at will.
She added it was all in self defense for the president to take Nanok head on matters development in the region.
"That was the best the president could have done.Otherwise the opposition leaders have taken it as a call to always insult the president. Why should they admonish him when he responds?'' she said during a talk show on Radio Jambo on Saturday.
She however asked the president to respond with the same tempo to corruption scandals bedeviling his government.
During the incident, a visibly agitated Uhuru engaged Nanok in a bitter exchange accusing the governor for trying to use him as a scapegoat when it was apparent he had done so little as the governor.
The move however caused uproar among Kenyans with others condemning him for spewing hate.
