A family in Wira area in Kuresoi wants the government to take action against police officers in Muchorwe police post for releasing a man accused of raping a 90-year-old woman.
The man, who was taken to the police station on Friday was released and disappeared.
According to the victim, the man managed to enter his house and raped her repeatedly threatening to kill her in case she raised an alarm.
Her son, Stephen Kahura, said he caught the man in the act.
Kahura said that he tied up the suspect and called neighbors.
“We decided that instead of taking the law into our hands we would rather take him to a police station for justice to be served,” Kahura said.
He added that on arrival at Muchorwe the suspect was remanded for a day before being released instead of being taken to court.
“The policemen have already interfered with the evidence and have released the man instead of taking action against him,” Benjamin Waweru said.
