Mose Muhia, a board member of the authority said that they have started a thorough exercise in Nakuru estates, with aim of marking buildings that have failed to meet the standard regulations.

“We have embarked on a comprehensive exercise to marking buildings at Kiamunyi Estate that have not complied with the authority's regulations,” said Muhia.

Speaking on Thursday at Nakuru Town when he paid a courtesy call to the Nakuru deputy governor, Muhia said that the exercise is meant to restore sanity in the construction industry by weeding out crooks.

“The construction industry has been infiltrated by quacks under the guise of NCA, we will demolish all the buildings that have failed to meet the required standards,” said Muhia.

He said that the authority would intensify its mandate in the construction industry, and coordinate its development issues to ensure Kenyans live in safe buildings.

The markings and demolitions of buildings come when the country is experiencing wide spread collapse of buildings in major towns, sparking off public condemnations.

Nakuru Deputy Governor Joseph Ruto said that the county government will support the exercise to avoid further loses of lives and property.

Ruto however urged developers to comply with the authority's regulations when putting up structures.
