National Construction Authority (NCA) on Wednesday morning stormed a construction site in Kiganjo and arrested the owner of the building and two construction engineers.
This is after the owner resumed construction at the site without meeting the NCA conditions after it halted construction activities at the site on October.
Following the move, Thika NCA Director Isaiah Achini gave a strong warning to owners of buildings against resuming constructions on condemned structures saying that they will be arrested and prosecuted in court besides their construction equipment being confiscated.
"The owner of this construction had removed our signs that indicate that the building was condemned and gone ahead to contract new engineers who were either unaware of the building status or were willing to be compromised to do the job," said Achini.
Achini said that they will not toss with people's lives and that the culprits arrested at the site will be dealt with accordingly.
He at the same time asked construction engineers who take over continuing buildings to seek information about their status to avoid being punished or having their licences revoked.
The said construction had been condemned for being erected on a marshy ground, having a week foundation among other reasons.
