The National Construction Authority (NCA) in conjunction with the Kiambu County government Physical Planning department officials have stopped the construction of four residential buildings in Kiganjo Estate.
Led by Thika Sub-County NCA Director Isaiah Achini on Friday, the officials said the constructions lacked qualified architects and engineers with the contractors being unregistered by NCA.
The buildings which were set to have up to five stories, Achini said, were built on marshy areas and had weak foundations.
"All the construction sites that we have closed today have not only been found to be a risk to future tenants but also to the workmen on the site," said Achini.
The NCA official also noted that the houses posed a huge risk to builders with all measures put into consideration.
"Such constructions with proven weak foundations are at a risk of collapse any time or sinking due to the nature of the soil they have been built on," he added.
Achini warned the contractors against resuming construction at the sites saying that criminal proceedings will be initiated against them.
