[Photo|Simon Ndiritu]The National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK) has proposed for the creation of positions of Prime Minister and two Deputy Prime Ministers, in the Kenyan constitution.Addressing the press over the current political environment, NCCK Secretary General Canon Peter Karanja said the posts will accommodate the Opposition leaders and help end the current political impasse.NCCK called on the Parliament to amend the constitution to create the positions as soon as possible, despite the current constitution only providing for a pure presidential system."NCCK recommends that Parliament should amend the constitution to include the position of a Prime Minister and two Deputy Prime Ministers and the restoration of the official leader of the opposition post,” said Karanja. He however warned that NCCK's recommendation do not mean the church wants formation of a coalition government, and further called for dialogue between President-elect Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga.“Our recommendations have nothing to do with leaning towards the opposition. This is a mechanism for Kenya to deal with its issues. We support the call for dialogue by all actors. We urge that the dialogue be expanded to include all Kenyans," Karanja said on Tuesday.
