National Cohesion and Intergration  Commission  (NCIC) chairman Francis Ole Kaparo  hashas asked asked Kenyans not to give  attention  to the  secession debate being propagated  by economist David Ndii.

The NCIC boss says that secession talk is likely to create disunity among Kenyan communities if allowed to continue.

Kaparo on Friday slammed those calling for secession saying they are not in their right state of mind.

The NCIC chairman said that  Kenyans are living in unity and any efforts to  cause rifts should be condemned with the strongest terms possible.

"I want to ask Kenyans to igonore this secession talk and continue living in unity as they have been doing since indpendenceindpendence", he said as quoted by Capital FM.

Kaparo said that Kenya is a unitary state, adding that it is misleading for some few people to to agitate for division through secession.

The NCIC boss said that his commission will remain alert adding that those who think will incite the public for their own political gains are in for a rude shock.

The secession debate continues to illicit mixed reactions among Kenyans and politicians.

On Thursday, Government spokesperson Erick Kirithe asked those calling for secession  to leave the country if they are not comfortable.

Economist David Ndii is leading the secession debate through an online petition.

Ndii, who is associated with NASA wants is seeking one million signatures to have the country split into states on claims that son communities  have been marginalised amd neglected since on matters national leadership
