NCIC chairman Francis Ole Kaparo said this was the first time the Commission was seeing so much politicking around registration of voters, an exercise that is supposed to be conducted in a professional manner.

Kaparo said there was a possibility that campaigns for the August elections were likely to be more than how current voter listing campaigns are, creating questions on how best the political mood will be in the Country.

He termed this as a great concern in the country's cohesion, and asked politicians to change their style of conducting campaigns by ensuring politics do not result into political differences among Kenyans.

"I have never seen so much politicking around voter registration campaigns. If this is how campaigns will be, then we need to rethink on how best to do it,'' he said, Tuesday.

He was speaking alongside NCIC Commissioners, during an event to outline the reviewed strategies for peace building ahead of the August 8, general elections.

Cord and Jubilee coalitions have been in the lead to mobilise supporters to register as voters.

Led by Raila Odinga and president Uhuru Kenyatta, respectively, the coalitions have been traversing County by County, as the one month exercise nears end, February 14.
