National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has named Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho and Kilifi’s Amason Kingi as the forces behind the outlawed Mombasa Republican Council (MRC).
NCIC commissioner Moriss Dzoro said that the terror group was formed under the patronage of the two leaders.
“These two people are the brains behind the formation of the Mombasa Republican Council that propagated hate and divisive politics with the aim of causing chaos in the traditionally peaceful region,” said Dzoro.
Dzoro went ahead to state that the two forces propagated the ‘Pwani si Kenya’ idea during Kibaki’s reign until him and Ananiah Mwaboza neutralized the MRC.
The commissioner was speaking during a meeting on countering extremism in Hola Tana River during the weekend.
Mombasa governor has in the recent past been quoted in public functions fiercely championing for the secession of the coastal strip from the rest of the country.
