So, some Kalenjin leaders won't accept the appointment of an 'outsider' to head Moi University which is at the heart of Kalenjin land.

Is there a story unfolding in your community? Let Hivisasa know

Led by Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago, these leaders stormed the main campus based in Eldoret on Tuesday where they even threatened to interrupt the graduation ceremony slotted for this week.

And as expected, the toothless dog that is National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has come out gun blazing to condemn the move by these tribalistic leaders while threatening them with consequences that include imprisonment.

But what NCIC doesn't tell us is that their barking will just end after the media cameras zoom out on them and these divisive tribal chiefs will go scot free.

Kenyans shouldn't expect much from NCIC visit to Moi main campus on Wednesday over the matter apart from news bytes, video cuts and newspaper quotes.

Everything beyond this will be crap to think of. As we head for the hotly contested 2017 General Election, Kenyans should be prepared for gigantic failure on the side of the NCIC as it once again fails to tame venomous tongues that will be the order of the day till after elections.

While universities in the rest of the world are moving forward and expanding globally, in Uasin Gishu the fight is still on as tribal kingpins drive their agenda.

What a shame!
