National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has absolved itself from the continued instances of politicians making hate speech remarks in the country. According to NCIC commissioner Gentile Naituli, the commission has been ruthless in dealing with such hate mongers.

In an interview on Tuesday on KTN News TV, Naituli affirmed that the commission has been able to present over 300 cases to the courts for relevant action to be taken. He believes the only people to be held responsible are the courts which handle these cases thereafter.

"NCIC should not be blamed for continued hate speech in the country. The commission has presented over 300 cases to the courts but no one has been charged for their remarks. It is the lack of such people being charged that we continue to see more instances of hate mongering," said Naituli.

The commissioner further alleged that politicians are repeat offenders because they are powerful people who cannot be charged easily. In his view, repeat offenses by politicians have given a leeway for other Kenyans to make hateful remarks.

"It is hard to deal with political leaders who make hate speech remarks. They are powerful and that is why we have them as repeat offenders. In fact, their repeat offenses have given a leeway to other Kenyans to make such remarks," added Naituli.
