The Judiciary is now being accused by the NCIC over an increase in the number of hate-speech cases in the country. This sprouted during a meeting in Naivasha between the NCIC and the Naivasha Peace Committee where the commission termed the Judiciary as a weak link especially in dealing with the cases among politicians.

Commissioner Morris Dzoro reiterated that the commission had done its part in addressing cases of hate-speech and attributed the rise in the cases to the ongoing anti -IEBC demonstrations that polarized the country.

On his part, commissioner Adan Abdi Mohammed corroborated with his colleague saying their role is to investigate the perpetrators and not to arrest, saying since it's inception it has investigated over 900 cases.

He also confirmed on the proposal of the law amendment which stipulates that any politician involved in hate speech be jailed for five years and fined a minimum of five million shillings.

On the other hand, Rift Valley Regional Coordinator Wanyama Musiambo issued a stern warning to politicians involved in hate speech or incitement saying they would be arrested no matter their position. He said they were after the masterminds behind the recent distribution of leaflets in Nakuru County adding that it was a matter of time before they made arrest.
