Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno has condemned the report by National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) saying Eldoret town is a potential hot spot of violence in the coming 2017 general election.
He said the county had learnt from the 2007/2008 post-election violence and no one was ready for its re-occurrence.
"I condemn the report by NCIC with the strongest terms possible, since it's ill intended and geared towards making them (NCIC) popular and make money at the expense of the people," he said.
Speaking in his office on Tuesday, Chemno said people from the county have reconciled and are now living as brothers and sisters.
"We don't anticipate any violence in 2017 elections since we have reconciled and those prophesying violence are prophets of doom with ill motives," he said.
He assured investors and Uasin Gishu County residents that everything is in order and no violence will be experienced.
According to the report, Nairobi, Kisumu, Mombasa, Nakuru, Eldoret, Narok, Kericho, Kisii, Homa Bay, Isiolo, Turkana, Bungoma, Kiambu are likely to experience violence in 2017 polls.
The report also said the mapped counties require close monitoring, failure to which instability and violence will be experienced.
