On his twitter handle on Thursday, Kaparo said that Ngilu  will  appear before the commission on February 20 at 10.00 am for interrogation over alleged incitement in regard to the charcoal ban.

“Following the alleged utterances by Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu on charcoal burning, the commission in a letter dated February 14 has summoned her to appear on February 20 at 10 AM”, Kaparo said via twitter.

Governor Ngilu has been under criticism in the past week over allegations that she incited youth to torch a lorry that was  ferrying charcoal in Kanyororo, Kitui county on Wednesday last week.

A section of Kiambu politicians led by Deputy Governor James Nyoro alleged that Ngilu instructed her aides to intercept the lorry and arrest the driver before it was set ablaze.

The  Kiambu leaders had called on the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet to order for  Governor Ngilu's  arrest and probe.

Ngilu has however denied the allegations, stating she is not aware of any vehicle that was burned as reported on the media.

She maintains that the ban on charcoal and sand harvesting in Kitui is irreversible.

A section of Kamba politicians among them Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua have defended Ngilu’s charcoal and sand harvesting ban.
