The National Cohesion and Integration Commission has proposed that hatemongers be barred from seeking elective posts in the future.
The NCIC proposes an amendment to electoral laws to allow IEBC have powers to prevent any individual accused of spreading hate from contesting for an elective position.
The commission argues that elected leaders are spewing hate messages to seek milage for them to be re-elected to their position.
The proposal comes when the country has been marred by a series of hate utterances from politicians across the political divide.
On Tuesday, 8 MPs accused of making hate utterances were arraigned in court and remain reprimanded to allow conclusive investigations. The commission has put on notice leaders spreading hate messages warning that they will face the full force of the law(photo/ralpreport.com)
