The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has warned politicians against recruiting youth into outlawed gangs ahead of the 2017 elections.
NCIC Commissioner Linda Ochiel said they have received reports that some politicians are out to misuse youths, adding that stern action will be taken against the leaders.
Ochiel who spoke at a Nairobi hotel during the launch of the Beyond Tribe Campaign also warned politicians against making hate remarks, and urged youth to shun such leaders.
The campaign aims to bring together politicians, religious leaders, and other opinion leaders in the quest to ensure the 2017 general election is violence-free.
According to kbctv.co.ke, speakers agreed that youth remain the most vulnerable in being used by politicians to cause violence in the run-up to the elections.
