President Uhuru Kenyatta has demoted Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Ndegwa Muhoro.

While announcing changes to his government on January 5, Uhuru said Muhoro, Deputy Inspector General of Police Joel Kitili and Deputy Inspector General Administration Police Service Samuel Arachi will no longer serve in the positions.

Uhuru forwarded the names of to Public Service Commission (PSC) for redeployment.

This means PSC can deploy them anywhere it wants.

It will be interesting to see how the three powerful figures will respond to these changes.

The positions they were serving in were senior, powerful and critical in the country's security structure.

Uhuru's move to leave them hanging and instead peg their  future careers to PSC is obviously a demotion.

Kenyatta appointed George Kinoti to the position of Director Criminal Investigations in an acting capacity.

Edward Njoroge Mbugua was named acting head of Kenya police and Noor Gabow the head Administration Police.
