Ndeiya MCA Nelson Munga has welcomed the move by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Keriako Tobiko to order the prosecution of alleged hate mongers.
Munga who was speaking to journalists in Limuru Town on Tuesday said that those spreading hate must be brought to justice as a warning to others with similar tendencies.
"Leaders must be accountable to the utterances they make in public. Nobody should be allowed to spread hate among Kenyans and then be left to walk just like that because they think they are powerful," said Munga.
The MCA said that the DPP will increase public confidence in his office saying that the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) tasked with ensuring unity among Kenyans had failed.
At the same time, Munga called on leaders to respect each other as well as bearers of various offices.
"Let us respect the leaders that we elect into various offices. We might not agree with them and their actions but they represent the will of the people", said Munga.
The Director of Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko has recommended the prosecution of Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama and activist Japheth Muriira Maroko over utterances they allegedly made during a Coalition for Reforms and Development (Cord) rally at Uhuru Park in September.
Tobiko has also recommended that political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi be charged over the messages he posted on social media allegedly directed against former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and the Luo community.
