Former Information and technology Permanent secretary Bitange Ndemo has joined hands with other leaders as well as journalists to strongly condemn an incident where a group of journalists was on Tuesday assaulted at a National Super Alliance (NASA) event in Nairobi.
According to Ndemo, the assault is a great exception to the unwarranted attack against the members of the press who were at the said venue to perform their duty.
“It has come to my attention that a good number of journalists have been roughed up by supporters of the National Super Alliance (NASA) while covering an event at the Wiper Party headquarters in Nairobi today and once I saw that clip I felt bad and its high time that our elected leaders guide their supporters," said Ndemo.
Ndemo was referring to an incident where goons raided the venue of the meeting looking for the Citizen TV crew reportedly to vent their anger over the manner in which the TV station relayed results from the 290 polling stations in the just concluded presidential election.
The goons accosted Citizen TV’s anchor, Francis Gachuri and menacingly ejected him from the event accusing the station of having been part of a scheme to rig the election in favor of Jubilee. NTV’s, Jane Gatwiri was also caught up in the melee.
