CCU leader Wavinya Ndeti has said politicians should forget about International Criminal Court for the nation to move forward.
Ndeti said it is not wise for leaders from both the Jubilee administration and parties affiliated to it and those from the Cord coalition to keep exchanging words on the acquittal of Deputy President William Ruto and former journalist Joshua Sang.
“There was no need for both the coalitions to hold parallel meetings in Nakuru and Kibera to talk about ICC since the cases are over,” said Ndeti.
“Those who were internally displaced across the country as a result of the 2007/08 post-election violence who have not been settled since then should be settled so that we forget the dark past and move as a country,” said Ndeti.
Ndeti said all the leaders among other Kenyans should instead join hands in helping victims of the post-election violence majority of who live under pathetic and difficult situations after being displaced from their homes.
He said it is inhuman for the politicians to keep playing politics at the expense of the victims majority of who have no one to turn to after losing their loved ones, bread- winners and property in the violence.
Ndeti said it is a pity that the affected persons have not gotten justice nine years down the line since the skirmishes in 2007/08 general elections.
“We must preach peace, love and unity in this our beloved country, let’s have peace now and even in the forthcoming 2017 elections,” said Ndeti.
She said leaders from the Cord coalition should start a rigorous legal process to remove IEBC from office ahead of the elections if they believe it is bound to be compromised by the Jubilee administration in the forthcoming elections instead of revisiting the ICC issue.
“Cord coalition leaders should start a legal process to remove IEBC if it is the one that compromises peace by conducting elections that are neither free nor fare, women and youth should unite and be at forefront in advocating for peace because they suffered most during the 2007/08 post-election violence,” said Ndeti.
Ndeti said President Uhuru Kenyatta should do everything possible to ensure all victims of the 2007/08 post election violence across the country get justice without discrimination of any manner.
She spoke at a funds drive in Yathui Catholic Parish in Mwala sub-county on Sunday for the construction of St Stephen Primary School’s dormitory.
