Mavoko parliamentary hopeful and Jubilee point man in Ukambani Kalembe Ndile was booed by the public during deputy president William Ruto’s tour in Athi River, Machakos County on Wednesday.

Residents who had gathered at Devki along Mombasa Road to be addressed by the deputy president shouted at Ndile when Ruto handed him a microphone to speak to them.

The residents refused to be addressed by the politician shouting Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko’s name.

They demanded to be addressed by Sonko.

Both Sonko and Ndile had accompanied the deputy president in the tour.

Ruto took back the microphone and handed it to Sonko who the residents cheered as they jeered Ndile.

Sonko said Kamba community was tired of being politically misused year in, year out.

“Some of the towns in Ukambani are cosmopolitan with majority being Kambas, as Kambas we are tired of being politically misused in every electioneering period,” said Sonko.

He said Kamba’s votes were used as rubber stamp.

“Kalonzo Musyoka signed an MOU with other Cord leaders in 2013 that he be the coalition’s flag bearer in 2017, this has not been honored by NASA,” said Sonko.

“We are tired to be misused, we are telling Kalonzo to come back to Jubilee,” said Sonko.

Sonko said Jubilee is an all-inclusive party with 42 tribes hence has lots of space to accommodate Kalonzo.

He called for unity among the Kamba community.

Sonko said some leaders in NASA had served in previous governments for 30 years with no tangible development projects to show.

He urged the community to vote for Jubilee’s re-election.

Ndile had declared his bid for Mavoko parliamentary seat.

He is battling it out with Justina Wamae and Jacqueline Makau for Jubilee ticket in party nominations in an attempt to oust Patrick Makau, the incumbent during the August 8, general election.
