Parents of needy children drawn from poor backgrounds in Nakuru East Constituency have formed a lobby group that will enhance a collective bargaining for social and education needs of their children. Speaking today during the Foundation Ceremony held at Vine Yard Hotel in Mawanga estate, the founder and elected chairman of the group Dominic Githaiga said the lobby had been formed to heighten beneficiary opportunities from government funds and other amenities meant for needy children. The group to be known as Nakuru East Constituency Needy Children Parents Forum(NENCPF)comprises of one hundred and fifteen original members while lobbying for registration of more members is still ongoing. The founding chairman said the lobby group will work hand in hand with the government to ensure that proper procedures and equability are observed during application and distribution of government money and other amenities to needy according to the constitution and policies. ‘’The lobby will manage a register of needy children in the constituency to help the government and other stakeholders analyze the level of needs and number of children to be considered as beneficiaries. This tactic will ensure that we protect and champion for the rights of children who deserve help from the government,’’he said rampant corruption in local bursary money distribution was adversely affecting education prospects of children from poor backgrounds. Githaiga also noted that the lobby would actively collectively bargain for support from other stakeholders in government and Non Governmental Organizations to support education and other social developments and needs of the needy children.
