Limuru Member of Parliament (MP) John Kiragu has asked needy but bright students to start sending applications for bursary funds.

Speaking at Kamirithu polytechnic Thursday, Kiragu said that enough money has been set aside for needy students.

He observed that it would be wise for needy students to start applying for the funds noting that the funds are always given on first come basis.

“Needy students should start applying for the bursary funds before schools re-open early next year,” he said.

The MP observed that the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) committee will ensure that all eligible students get funds.

Kiragu said that he is committed to boost education standards in the constituency adding that candidates who would perform well in national examinations will be rewarded.

The law maker urged the national government to address the issues being raised but teachers countrywide to prevent strikes.

He said that strikes would paralyze learning and contribute to poor performance in national examinations.

The MP at the same time asked parents to use this holiday season to mentor their children.
