Motorists plying roads in Athi River sub county have been warned against flouting traffic laws.
Speaking to hivisasa.com in Athi River town on Tuesday, Deputy County Commissioner Kodeck Makori said the number of accidents in the sub county had increased.
"I am seriously disturbed by the increased rate of accidents on roads in Athi River sub county," he said.
Mr Makori said several motorists were over speeding along the roads without adhering to the basic traffic laws and regulation hence the accidents.
He said it had also been reported that some of the motorists were under influence of drugs thereby driving carelessly on the roads especially along the busy Nairobi-Mombasa and Nairobi-Namanga roads.
He called on motorists to take caution especially as the festive season approaches.
He said those arrested flouting traffic rules will be dealt with according to the law.
