Lawyer Nelson Havi has endorsed another candidate for the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) presidency.
This comes after Havi's bid was denied by the High Court on grounds that he had not attained the fifteen (15) years experience required for one to vie for the seat, a requirement in the LSK Act of 2014.
In a tweet on Tuesday, Havi endorsed former East African Law Society president James Aggrey Mwamu for the seat urging advocates to participate in the February 22 election.
Havi further thanked those who supported his bid and asked for a wise voting exercise that will see the interests of advocates, and not of the state or cartels, taken care of.
"Friends, Learned Friends, sometimes you cannot defeat the State, even through the Court process. However, there are many other ways of achieving the same goal. For now, I endorse James Aggrey Mwamu for LSK President. Go vote. Do not boycott. Friends, May I thank you most sincerely, for your unwavering support towards our quest to serve as LSK President. Please, go and vote wisely for a President, Vice President and Council Members who will serve your interests and not not those of the State or of cartels," tweeted Havi.
Havi however pointed out that he will continue serving without an appointive badge or elective office as he has always done.
Those cleared to run for the seat are Mwamu, Judith Achieng’ Sijeny and Allen Waiyaki Gichuhi.
