Coast Regional Coordinator Nelson Marwa has warned politicians and powerful businessmen of severe consequences should they interfere with the next general polls by causing violence.
Speaking at Bamburi, Mombasa on Saturday, Marwa warned that this time the policeforce will be working on preventing violence as opposed to the past where they waited for things to escalate before moving in.
He warned that he will be going for the perpetrators of chaos regardless of their standing in society.
“Anybody, regardless of your rank or who you are - whether a governor, MP, a billionaire, my brother, my sister - if you disrupt peace or issue threats in this region the law will deal with you on the spot. That is the position we are taking,” he added.
Marwa said that the previous cases where police have been working by issuing warnings was not going to be applied this time.
“We will be focusing on early warning signs. We are not dealing with conflict. We are not going to be saying we shall leave no stone unturned. That is stupidity," he added.
“We want to leave stones unturned before Kenyans die by dealing with early warning signs that may lead to conflict,” said Marwa.
