They raised concerns that the slaughterhouse is a health risk.

The residents held a demonstration on Wednesday held a peaceful demonstration and accused investors of defying a court order that blocked the construction.

“The slaughterhouse if complete will expose locals to the danger of contracting diseases since it’s located near Kasiminde dam which is largely used for domestic purposes,” said David Rotich, a resident.

Tengecha Primary School located next to the slaughterhouse stands a big risk since children draw water from the dam while in school.

Nakuru county director of Environment Kiogora Mureithi in a telephone interview said that his department will visit the slaughterhouse for inspection on compliance.
