The National Environment Management Authority has issued a stern warning to farmers who been utilising the waters of Lake Naivasha illegally.Waters of the lake have reduced significantly, a reality that has the authority deeply concerned and has asked flower farmers who have encroached on the waters to cease that illegal activity.''We have witnessed a significant drop in the waters of Lake Naivasha. Now we have farmers, especially flower farmers who have encroached on its waters while other people who've invested in the area have decided to dig canals. Our position is that it is illegal,''Jessica Kaihura, Naivasha Environmental officer said yesterday.
