The Neno Evangelism church along Haile Selassie Avenue that belongs to the controversial pastor, James Ngang'a was on Tuesday locked following a crackdown on premises.

The premise is yet to submit its land rates to the City Hall and that led to county officials storming into the church during the lunch hour service, ordering all the members of the church to vacate the building and locking the church. Pleas from the congregation to allow them to finish the service fell on deaf ears as the officials were on an official crackdown.

It is reported that Pastor Ngang'a had sent a representative to deliver sh200, 000 to the council but it was rejected. Neno Evangelism is among the many buildings that the county government shut down on Tuesday afternoon.

Among the affected premises include the Nakumatt Supermarket, Kenyatta University building and Nairobi safari Club Annex. Kenyatta University has since been reopened after they showed a copy of their payment receipts acknowledging remittance of their land rates.

The latest move by the City Hall is meant to raise monies held by corporate companies and individual business holders who are yet to meet their financial obligations to the county government. A source at the City Hall hinted that the crackdown shall continue until all government dues are fully paid.
