Kenyan security troops manning the border counties of Garissa, Wajir and troubled Mandera are set to benefit from increased intelligence gathering, training and equipment as Israel says it will help the country combat terrorism.
President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday indicated that the visiting Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu had pledged support for Kenyan security agencies in Somalia and even those operating within the country.
“We have established a great partnership in combating terrorism and we will immensely benefit from strategic intelligence,” said Kenyatta via a televised joint brief at State House.
At the moment, Kenya already receives military support from the Israeli state.
Kenya has in the recent past suffered a spate of fatal bomb and gun attacks on unarmed civilians by Somalia-based Al Shabaab terrorists who are demanding for the removal of Kenyan troops from the destabilised horn of Africa State.
The Israeli state boasts of Mossad intelligence agency, which gathers information that pre-empts terror attacks.
