Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) is bracing for yet another battle with the ministry of Education and Tte Teachers Service Commission (TSC) over massive transfers of school heads citing no valid reason being given.
KNUT has also warned against transferring the heads of schools that realised performance saying that these transfers will shake the stability of the institutions.
KNUT West Pokot secretary, Martin Sembeleo said that the union is set to defend teachers who are transferred without valid reasons.
He said that the transfers are politically motivated and warned politicians against interfering with schools.
"Let us keep politics out of our schools. Those who interfere with the education sector risk being sued," Sembeleo said.
He said that KNUT will do whatever it takes to protect the heads and their respective institutions.
"Kenya National Union of Teachers will protect its members from any interference in the management of schools."
The KNUT boss was speaking at his home in Lityei village during celebrations for his two children Laban Chumba, who scored an A minus in KCSE and Nancy Cheruto of Moi Girls Eldoret who scored a B+ plus of 71 points.
TSC through has defended the transfers saying that it was an administrative one from the employer.
“This is a regular move by the commission and nothing more. It largely targets those heads of schools that have stayed in one station for a long period of time,” Bungoma TSC country director said.
