President Uhuru Kenyatta has put the new Cabinet Secretaries on notice, saying it is business unusual.
The new Cabinet Secretaries will officially take up their positions today as Kenyans set their sights on Uhuru's final term.
The team that includes Margaret Kobia (Public Service), Keriako Tobiko (Environment), Rashid Achesa (Sports) and John Munyes (Petroleum and Mining) was sworn in on Friday.
Uhuru talked tough, saying anyone who felt unsure about the job should speak up. "There are other Kenyans ready to do the job," he said.
The President lay emphasis on his Big Four agenda, which aims to focus on job creation.
He said, “to those whom much has been given, much is expected. I look forward to a cabinet that shall be selfless in service, unimpeachable integrity, dedication to duty and unmatched excellence."
With the new cabinet, Uhuru aims to improve food security, housing, manufacturing and healthcare.
In a draft budget policy, the National Treasury said the government will create up to 20,000 jobs. They will be generated from the manufacturing sector.
The Jubilee administration has laid the ground for the Big Four Economic Plan, which will only be successful if the private sector plays its role effectively.
Jobs in agro-processing will focus on mapping tea, dairy, meat and crops value chains.The Big Four agenda will be anchored on the Agriculture ministry headed by CS Mwangi Kiunjuri.
