Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has come up with a system that will prevent businessmen from losing their goods through transit.According to KRA Board of Directors chairman Edward Sambili the system ‘Regional Electronic Cargo Tracking’ will prevent people from offloading goods since one will be tracked.“Cases of fuel dumping and tax evasion will be a thing of the past because you will be monitored from Mombasa port to its destination. This will reduce corruption by 80 percent and contraband goods in our market,” he said in Eldoret town, Tuesday.“This new cargo system allows three countries to monitor the cargo in real time hence limiting the opportunity for any collusion to evade tax,” he added. He, however, urged Kenyans to develop a culture of paying tax without being followed since it is not a punishment.“We want Kenyans to know that paying tax is their right for the government to offer them services since without revenue they will not get quality essential services,” noted.
