The new gangs; Forest brigade and Gaza brigade have been linked to the Wakali wao and Wakali kwanza gangs which have been terrorizing residents in the area for some time now.
A source quoted by Baraka FM claimed that the gang members, who are usually armed with crude weapons, are being financed by powerful politicians.
Kisauni police boss Christopher Rotich said security officers have launched investigations into the matter.
“The new gangs are calling themselves Forest brigade and Gaza brigade. We believe they are just rebranding themselves but it is the same group which has been terrorizing residents. We are doing what it takes to make sure there is peace in the area,” said Rotich as quoted by the daily.
This comes after 200 suspected members of the new gangs clashed with bodaboda riders in Kisauni-Mshomoroni area, where one of them was killed.
It is reported that the gangs have been asking the bodaboda operators to pay Sh10 each in the areas where they operate.
